Life-cycle driven design of steel structures for reduced embodied carbon

A series of 4 webinar 120-min sessions were organized on 2 weeks in January 2024:

  • Tuesday 23/01 + Thursday 25/01
  • Tuesday 30/01 + Thursday 01/02

The objective of these sessions was to provide a comprehensive overview of strategies, theoretical framework, and methods to reduce embodied carbon in steel construction. The webinar included hands-on exercises, real-world examples, and interactive discussions to deepen the understanding of the topic. At the end of the webinar, participants were able to calculate embodied carbon of a steel structure during the conceptual design stage, understand techniques and methods for reducing embodied carbon emissions, and analyze real-world case studies of mono and multi-storey steel structures.
