The largest greenhouse ever built in the world comprises a series of light, freestanding, spherical sections providing maximum volume for a minimum footprint. The eight transparent domes with a radius varying between 18 and 65 metres flow down a slope in two groups of four bubbles: the wet tropics on the one hand, the hot temperate regions on the other. Each bubble is comprised of a galvanised steel tube frame covered with an ETFE textile skin the extreme lightness of which makes it possible to lighten the structure all the more. The panels are comprised of three sheets separated by air blades thereby forming an insulating pillow. The components are pre-assembled on the ground before being erected. More than a simple greenhouse, this building is an ethical and ecological manifesto.

Das größte Gewächshaus der Welt besteht aus einer Reihe von selbststabilisierenden und leichten Kugeln, die einen maximalen Rauminhalt bei minimaler Bodenfläche bieten. Die acht transparenten Kuppeln mit einem Halbmesser zwischen 18 und 65 m verteilen sich auf dem abschüssigen Gelände auf zwei Gruppen mit jeweils vier Kugeln : auf der einen Seite die feuchten Tropen und auf der anderen Seite die warmen bzw. milden Regionen. Jede Kugel besteht aus einem Gerippe aus verzinkten Stahlrohren, das mit einer ETFE-Textilmembran überzogen ist und die Gesamtstruktur ausgesprochen leicht macht. Die Tafeln bestehen aus drei separaten durch Luftschichten getrennten Blättern. Eine Vormontage der Elemente erfolgte vor Ort. Dieses Bauwerk ist mehr als ein einfaches Gewächshaus : Ein regelrechtes ethisches und ökologisches Manifesto.

Les huit dômes transparents d'une rayon variable de 18 à 65 m se coulent sur la pente en deux groupes de quatre bulles : les tropiques humides d'un côté, les régions chaudes et tempérées de l'autre. Chaque bulle est constituée d'une ossature en tubes d'acier galvanisé revêtue d'une peau textile en ETFE dont l'extrême légèreté permet d'affiner d'autant la structure. Les panneaux sont composés de trois feuilles séparées par des couches d'air formant ainsi un oreiller isolant. Les éléments ont été préassemblés au sol avant d'être montés. Davantage qu'une simple serre, cet édifice est un véritable manifeste éthique et écologique.
