The project is a successful interaction of old and new building matter in a former industrial urban landscape. In following the existing spatial and load bearing structure, a regeneration of the interiors and a harmonization of the façades were achieved without sacrificing the original character of the building. The complex building project demonstrates the variety in the utilization of steel as well as an economy regarding costs and time needed for construction. As this example shows, the increasing re-use of urban space indicates the necessity to facilitate new forms of living and working.

Das Projekt ist ein geglücktes Zusammenspiel von alter und neuer Bausubstanz in einer ehemals industriellen Stadtlandschaft. In Anlehnung an die bestehende Raum- und Tragstruktur gelang eine Regeneration der Innenräume sowie eine Harmonisierung der Fassaden, ohne den ursprünglichen Charakter des Gebäudes zu ersticken. Die komplexe Bauaufgabe veranschaulicht die Vielfältigkeit der Anwendung von Stahl sowie seine Wirtschaftlichkeit in Bezug auf Kosten und Bauzeit. Wie dieses Beispiel zeigt, verweist die zunehmende Umnutzung von Stadtraum auf die Notwendigkeit, neue Wohn- und Arbeitsformen zu ermöglichen.

Ce projet est une heureuse combinaison de volumes bâtis anciens et nouveaux dans un site urbain jadis industriel. Suivant la géométrie des structures initiales, les espaces intérieurs ont été entièrement repris et l'harmonie des façades qui en résulte laisse néanmoins subsister le caractère originel du bâtiment. Cet exercice de construction complexe met en évidence l'emploi omniprésent de l'acier en raison de sa rentabilité tant en terme de coûts que de délais des travaux. Il constitue à ce titre un bon exemple, de la réaffectation croissante d'espaces urbains pour permettre de nouvelles formes d'habitat et de lieux de travail.
