Despite its position as economic hub and leading financial and cultural
centre, Stockholm has for many years lacked a modern and central facility
for international congress, conferences, symposiums, and events.
A new hotel, conference centre and office building are beeing built next
to an unbeatable communication portal. The Central Station with express
trains to and from Arlanda airport and the bus terminal are just a few
steps away.
With its central location, and a spectacular view over Stockholm, the
Waterfront Building offers representative office space with a high degree
of efficiency and technical adaptions. Furthermore the building meets
high demands regarding environmental and energy impact.
The hotel consists of 418 rooms, with spectacular views over Riddarfjärden
and Stockholms City Hall.
The congress complex consist of a large congress hall suitable for local
as well as international events. With its flexible design it can be used
for everything from exhibitions to concerts and board meetings, international
congresses, conferences etc. Furthermore, a Business Center on levels
2 and 3 consists of a number of small, midsize, and large meeting rooms
for all types of assemblies.
The complex includes a large banquet facility with room seating for up
to 2000 guests as well as a range of restaurants which are able to accommodate
guests even during a large major events.
The largest wall truss of the steel frame for this challenging construction
project is 15 metres high and 50 metres long. The steel truss will be
assembled resting against support towers and be welded together on site.
The wall truss will bear the roof trusses, the largest of which weigh
around 40 tonnes.
The hotel and congress centre, are scheduled for completion in 2010, the
offices were completed in autumn 2009.
