Real estate company Oslo S Utvikling (OSU) have taken the first step
in the development of the new downtown area of Bjørvika (Barcode)
in Oslo. With the new opera nearby PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers) is getting
a new 15000 m2 / 46m / 12 stories tall headquarter designed by a-lab.
As one of the first "strips" in Barcode, the shape of the building
is simple and well defined.The main facade material will be glass, with
a outside skin of sun shading elements. The light and transparent volume
consists of 12 floors with a five-storey opening in the façade
that indicate the main entrance, reception and meeting centre. With direct
access to the Central Station, the building will be important both as
a signal building and connector.
Construction started in january 2006 and scheduled completion is 2007.
