Journée Construction Acier 2005 - Luxembourg

On November 18, 2005 the Centre Information Acier-Staalinfocentrum will organize the 3rd Journée Construction Acier (Steel construction day) within the new Grande-Duchesse Joséphine-Charlotte Concert hall in Luxembourg. The partners of this event are: l'Association Luxembourgeoise des Ingénieurs (the Luxembourg Association of Engineers), Architectes et Industriels (Architects and Manufacturers), l'Ordre des Architectes et des Ingénieurs Conseils (the Order of the Architects and the Consulting engineers), l'Association Luxembourgeoise des Ingénieurs et la Fondation de l'Architecture et de l'Ingénierie (the Luxembourg Association of Engineers and the Foundation for Architecture and Engineering).

This day, placed under the high patronage of Mrs Delvaux-Stehres, Minister for Education and Vocational training, is aimed to promote steel in the construction industry and to reveal the architectural, technical and economic innovations this material enables.
During this day, the participants will be able to attend the conferences proposed by famous professionals such as Will Alsop and Christian de Portzamparc, with an exhibition gathering the stands of active companies in the field as well as to attend the Concours Construction Acier 2005 (Steel construction awards) award ceremony.

The quality of the 24 projects taking part in the second edition of the Concours Construction Steel in Luxembourg did not facilitate the task of the Jury. The nominated projects are: “Grande-Duchesse Joséphine-Charlotte Concert hall” by Christian de Portzamparc, “Central Workshops of the Administration of the Highways Departments” by Brück + Weckerle Architekten, “House of the Kind spring” by Steinmetz De Meyer architects and town-planners, “Cultural centre of Meeting” by A.M. Jean Ewert - Jeannot Lorang, “Metallic Footbridges - Viaduct of Lorentzweiler” by the Atelier d'Architecture et de Design Jim Clemes e.c.a. Nico Thurm, “Cyclist and Footbridge on the Sûre” by Tr-Engineering and “Tower of Dreams and Nostalgias” by Hermann & Valentiny et Associés.
