ECCS ANNUAL MEETINGS and INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM “ARCHITECTURE AND STEEL”:
NICE 2005

On September 2005, the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork has celebrated its 50th Anniversary. The Ceremony has taken place in Nice, at the Legendary Riviera of France, on 20-23 September 2005. This gave an ideal opportunity to organise an International Symposium on “Architecture and Steel”.

It has been a great event for all the people involved in the constructional steelwork. This was an exceptional opportunity to point out on steel construction, and especially to focus on technical and architectural steel construction evolution of last 50 years to underline merits of steel for next future.
A public exhibition, “50 Years of Steel Architecture in Europe” has also been presented in Nice during this time.

Palais de la Méditerranée, Nice, France

The Symposium as well as the ECCS meetings took place at the “Palais de la Méditerranée” located on the famous “Promenade des Anglais”, just in front of the Mediterranean Sea.

The International Symposium has featured prominent speakers from the world of architecture and engineering who have focussed on the many changes during the last 50 years and also to the future changes.

The International Symposium closed with the presentation ceremony of the European Steel Design Awards, which are given in recognition of outstanding design in steel construction.
